Wedding Season: Some Of Our Favourite Local Bridal Designers

Wedding Season: Some Of Our Favourite Local Bridal Designers

As the days grow longer and warmer and we start looking toward summer, bridal season is just around the corner! Many couples will be beginning their preparations — an exciting but often overwhelming task. To make things a little easier, we’ve put together some great local resources to help you along your wedding journey.

Many would agree that one of the most important parts of any wedding is the bridal gown. It’s often one of the most significant garments a bride will ever purchase, so it’s worth finding something you’ll cherish forever.

Fortunately, New Zealand is home to a number of talented designers who can create a custom-made bridal gown just for you, carefully crafted to your exact specifications.

Trish Peng

Trish Peng is one of Aotearoa’s most well known wedding designers and has been featured in international publications such as People, E!Online and Marie Claire.

Her gowns embody feminine grace and effortless elegance, each one handcrafted in Auckland. Every custom piece is created in collaboration with you, designed exclusively for you, and meticulously tailored to your unique measurements and personal style. She only takes on ten dress designs a year - so you will feel truly luxurious.

Kristine Crabb

Kristine Crabb also known previously as the iconic Miss Crabb and more recently her new label, Gloria. Crabb has been around in the NZ fashion world since the early 2000s and has dressed international and local celebrities. Her designs are known for their beautiful draping silks, highly feminine and romantic feel. If you were going to get married at a vineyard with flowers in your hair - a Kristine Crabb dress would be the perfect addition.

Jacqueline Anne

Jacqueline Anne is a fairly new label (just under five years old) but has been turning heads internationally for 20+ years. The designs of Jacqueine Anne have their roots in race wear but with a twist. While often in NZ we tend to go for demure colours, JA creates bursts of colour, florals and divine patterns. This is often juxtaposed with a sharply expert, tailored finished. This is another designer that is specifically made to order.

Reine

Is for the effortless chic, understated bride. While the designs aren’t necessarily focused on bridal, there are at least half a dozen styles for the bride that wants simple yet stunning, highest quality attire. Reine is also designed and made-to-order in Ponsonby, Auckland, and I know from first hand experience - the fit will be immaculate and you will feel like you stepped off a runway.

Brooke Tyson

Brooke Tyson Ritual is specifically a bridal and special occasion brand. And my gosh, is it special! These designs are perfect if you want a traditional princess gown while still unique and modern enough that you’ll feel high-fashion.

Inspired by magical eras, think fringing, intricate beading, lace blazer dresses, puff shoulders, and ruffles, all combined with luxurious natural fibres, liquid-like silks, and flattering body-skimming cuts.”

I would go and peruse the Brooke Tyson Ritual website to look at the beautiful pictures.

While you’re deciding on your perfect dress for that special day, we offer tailored bridal party experiences, including package deals, hair and makeup. Head over to that page here and enquire.

Happy wedding season!
